Computer Information Technology Work-Based Learning Coordinator

Function

This position will assist with instructional and work-based learning responsibilities for the Computer Information Technology program. Primary teaching responsibilities will be for the Database Software Engineer Degree and assisting with the Information Security Analysis Degree. Position will assist current instructor in developing program needs and incorporating current trends and advisory committee feedback into the program, and growing enrollment, with the intention to transition to a full-time faculty member within three years.

Organizational Relationships

This position reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the Vice President of Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College

Qualifications for Position

Required:

1. Appropriate education and/or certification(s) related to Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineer
2. Two or more years of working experience in the field
3. Commitment to community college mission and philosophy
4. Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills
5. Willingness and ability to teach students in the classroom and through alternative delivery methods
6. Work with entire College community in an effective and positive manner

Preferred:

1. Bachelors degree or higher in field
2. Teaching/mentoring experience
3. Cisco Networking Academy Courses

Essential Functions

1. Perform instructional duties as assigned for appropriate subject area
2. Teach up to 12 credit hours a semester (fall, spring, summer), no more than 29 credit hours per academic year
3. Coordinate with current faculty to review existing programs for revisions and possible new CIT pathways
4. Explore implementation of competency-based education, short-term certificates, workforce development trainings, and other educational models
5. Develop and maintain partnerships for internships and apprenticeships
6. Develop and/or update appropriate curriculum for Database Software Engineer Degree and other CIT classes being taught
7. Review and propose traditional and alternative delivery methods of curriculum and be flexible in scheduling
8. Keep abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area and incorporate into the program and curriculum
9. Develop and/or update appropriate curriculum for classes individual is teaching
10. Prepare or update syllabi as needed for all courses in which the individual has instructional

responsibilities

1. Attend and participate in committee meetings, sponsorship of student activities and other College

activities as requested.

1. Mentor and counsel students in the registration process and during office hours.
2. Prepare reports as requested.
3. Participate in commencement exercises.
4. Recommend textbooks and equipment, as deemed necessary in instructional assignments.
5. Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College-wide assessment program.
6. Perform program review.
7. Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Dean.
8. Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as necessary.
9. Participate in professional development activities both on campus and off-campus as requested.
10. Review and recommend course fees annually.
11. Plan and implement a program of communication and recruitment with potentially interested students and community members in the specific teaching area.
12. Conduct graduate employment surveys as required.
13. Ensure program enrollment growth. Faculty eligibility after 3 years employment is contingent upon maintaining enrollment at or above 8 students per cohort and demonstrating the ability to increase overall program enrollment annually.
14. Promote an educational environment that recognizes and values diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral components of academic excellence

Other Functions

1. Provide input to the Dean in the budget process and regularly monitor departmental budget, if needed
2. Assist the appropriate College staff in follow-up activities for graduating or existing Kaskaskia College students.
3. Assist the appropriate College staff in the dissemination of information dealing with Kaskaskia College programs and activities for students and the community.
4. Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise student worker(s) as necessary.

Supervisory Controls

Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the Program Coordinator/Instructor, Dean, and/or Vice President.

Employee is expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Faculty member is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.

Employee will have daily contact with students, adjuncts, and other College employees and will have frequent contact with community

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Duties will be performed in either a classroom setting or a business and industry environment. Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary

VACATION LEAVE 1.83 days per month, for a total of 22 days per fiscal year. For grant-funded employees, vacation time must be used in the year that it is earned.

SICK LEAVE 12 days per fiscal year

PERSONAL LEAVE 3 days per fiscal year

PAID HOLIDAYS Minimum of 13 paid holidays per year

HEALTH INSURANCE is effective the first day of the month after hire date and includes comprehensive medical, vision and dental coverage.

Rates effective 9/1/23:

$247.00 per month employee only coverage

$394.00 per month employee plus one

$420.00 per month employee plus family

Provider is Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois.

LIFE INSURANCE is provided by the College and is effective the first day of the month after hire date. The benefit amount is equal to annual salary. Additional voluntary insurance is available at employees expense.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT and 403(b) PLANS are also available.

RETIREMENT PLAN

The State Universities Retirement System requires that 8% of an employees monthly gross pay is deducted for individual retirement purposes.

It is also required that .75% of an employees monthly gross pay be deducted to fund the College Insurance Plan for Community College Retirees.

TUITION WAIVERS are available for staff and family.
